The Stanislaus County Bar Association operates the Lawyers Referral Service (LRS) to assist people within Stanislaus County who do not have an attorney but have legal problems and who seek an attorneys assistance. Anyone who needs an attorney may visit the Lawyers Referral Service located at 804 14th Street, in Modesto, California, or call (209) 571-5727. Each call is screened by an LRS staff member to determine the substantive area of law in question before the referral is made. The caller is then referred to an attorney with the appropriate background and expertise for the type of problem involved.
The attorney gives the client a one-half hour consultation for a fee of $50.00. The fee is forwarded to LRS to support this worthwhile program.
The LRS is governed by the "minimum" standards for a lawyer referral service in California" as set forth by the State Bar of California. The LRS of the Stanislaus County Bar Association is therefore certified by the State Bar of California.
