Lawyer Referral Service
Stanislaus County Bar Association (SCBA) can assist you in finding a lawyer for your specific legal matter. Here is why you can trust our Lawyer Referral Service (LRS):
Every lawyer on our panel is certified by the State Bar of California. All of our lawyers are active members in good standing and pay annual dues. Each lawyer is required to carry malpractice insurance. The majority of the lawyers have years of experience in their legal fields. Every lawyer has to apply and meet minimum requirements for each area of law. We have lawyers available with experience in over 13 areas of law. If you are seeking legal advice and/or a lawyer to represent you in court, we can refer you to a local lawyer who you can hire to help with your situation.
Referral Process
For a referral to the service, call (209) 571-5727 between 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday (closed 12 to 1pm). We will review your legal problem with you to determine what type of lawyer or other service you need. We will schedule an appointment for you with a local qualified lawyer for a 30-minute consultation (we cannot give legal advice). There is an administrative fee of $50, which will be charged (effective July 2011) over the phone with your ATM/Debit Card or any Credit Card displaying a Visa, Master Card, or Discover logo. After we determine that we are able to schedule a 30-minute consultation for your specific legal matter, the $50 administrative fee will be approved and the LRS phone representative will confirm your scheduled appointment date, time and place (The $50 administrative fee is non-refundable).
Additionally
Once you meet with the lawyer, you and the lawyer determine what he/she can do for you and you will discuss the fees you will pay. If you hire the lawyer, you can use his/her services for other legal matters without contacting us or paying additional administrative fees. You may find a lifelong lawyer through your first referral. If your lawyer cannot handle a different issue in the future, you can use our service for another new referral/consultation.
*The client is not obligated to hire the lawyer for services beyond the initial 30-minute consultation, nor is the lawyer required to accept the case. In fact, the problem may be resolved within the initial 30-minute consultation. However, if the problem is serious enough to require additional services, and the client decides to hire the lawyer for further services, specific arrangements are to be negotiated directly between the client and the lawyer.
